New Industry Standard Allen & Heath GL Mixer at First NAMM Show

Indianapolis, IN (July 22, 2005) - The new 4-bus dual-function Allen & Heath GL2400 live sound mixer is making its first appearance at a NAMM show in Indianapolis (NAMM Summer Session, Booth #1509, Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis, IN; July 22-24, 2005). Recently announced and the successor to the industry-standard GL2200, the GL2400 is available in 16-, 24-, 32- and 40-channel frame sizes.

Based on dual-function capability, which Allen & Heath pioneered in the early 1990s, the new GL2400 has been developed with a feature set dedicated to modern sound engineering, such as in-ear monitoring and matrix recording. The 16-, 24- and 32-channel versions have started shipping; the 40-input version will ship later in the year.

The GL2400 has a third master fader, which can be configured to create a center fill or sub-bass mix from Aux 6, a mono sum of the LR mix, or a monitor wedge output. All channels have pre/post fader aux switching, and in Monitor mode, all auxes are available on faders with mutes, inserts, meters and XLR drive.

One of the key features of the GL2400 is the new 7x4 matrix, which provides extra output flexibility. In FOH mode, independent fill speaker and acoustics compensated recording feeds can be created, while in Monitor mode, the matrix offers more monitor outputs from the groups and LR with added ambience for in-ear applications.

The GL2400 benefits from the latest audio circuitry with an extended preamp gain range of 74dB with input on XLR or jack, differential balanced +26dBu outputs and a new ultra-quiet mix head amp design for optimum dynamic range. The new console also incorporates individual vertical PCB's throughout as well as copper bus bar grounding.

"The GL2200 has been one of the best selling mixers in the company's 35 year history. Worldwide, sound engineers loved its flexibility and feature set - the GL2200 was a true workhorse," commented Allen & Heath's sales director, Bob Goleniowski. "The new GL2400 benefits from the most up-to-date audio engineering and its enhanced functionality can only maintain the great reputation of this industry favorite."

Other models in the new range are the GL2800, GL3800 and GL4800.
