Bio:
Kinky is a five-piece Latin-alternative band from Monterrey, Mexico. They first came together in 2000 as a trio comprised of vocalist/guitarist Gilberto Cerezo, keyboardist/programmer Ulises Lozano, and guitarist Carlos Chairez. Drummer Omar Gongora and bassist Cesar Pliego joined shortly thereafter and the group only got stronger at that point. Kinky is known for their energetic live shows as much as their impressive recordings. The group draws their inspiration from funk-rock as well as electronic dance music, resulting in a unique hybrid that has earned them an international following. Kinky’s breakthrough in the professional music world came in the summer of 2000 when the guys entered a Battle of Bands hosted by the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) in New York City. They walked away victoriously with major label interest. Already on their 4th studio album, this Latin powerhouse band is a serious force to be reckoned with.
