Stevie Stewart on Nord

Artist Profiles: Stevie Stewart

“Nord saved my Life!! Last night at a festival up in a beautiful town way up north, the B3's Leslie died and the back up didn't work either. So I'm stuck with no Hammond!! For me, that is like the kiss of death. So I get on the Stage EX 76 and start going to work getting a Hammond on it that rocks, and YES INDEED!!! I really was very impressed with the grind and expressiveness of that killer keyboard. Not to mention the Synths and Wurly really rock too!!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you to Nord!!!” - Stevie Stewart, keyboardist for The Sweet

Bio:
Minneapolis native Stevie Stewart began his musical career as a drummer, but ultimately gravitated towards keyboards when he fell in love with the Hammond B3 organ and set out to master it. His charismatic stage presence soon caught the eye of Twin Cities-based blues-rock band Crow (best known for their top-twenty hit "Evil Woman (Don't You Play Your Games With Me)," which was later covered by Black Sabbath). In 1992, Stevie relocated to the Los Angeles area to be closer to the music scene. In just a few years, he was involved, as both a performer and a producer, in the creation of more than a dozen albums by various artists whose styles ranged from hard rock to country to blues.

Five years after his arrival in L.A., Stevie teamed up with longtime friend Nick St. Nicholas of Steppenwolf fame, who recruited him as keyboardist for the World Classic Rockers, a super-group that also features former members of The Eagles, Santana, Toto, Boston, Wings, Vanilla Fudge, Journey, Foreigner, The Knack and The Spencer Davis Group. Steve Priest, the creator of Sweet, then chose Stevie to be a partner in the recreation of that great band, the Sweet.
