Artist Profiles: Samuel Fogarino
“There's many attributes to the whole Nord range. What's most appealing to me is the analog control,
digital stability, and the total ease of use. When it came time to put together Interpol's new touring rig,
the choice to employ a Wave and an Electro 3 was an easy one... they both just sound amazing... and, they're red.” - Samuel Fogarino, drummer, and keyboard rig designer for Interpol
Gear: Nord Wave,Nord Electro 3
Bio:
Samuel Fogarino is more than likely best known as the drummer for the band Interpol. He joined Interpol in the spring of 2000, when the band and original drummer parted ways. “Shortly after entering the fold, there was a lot of talk about adding some keyboard and synth textures to the mainly guitar driven sound, but what the band didn't
realize is that such things were also a passion of mine, not just banging away at the drum kit. From that point onward I became Interpol's keyboard rig designer - constantly placing new gear in front of Carlos [Dengler] (The band's bassist/keyboardist) to play.”
Recently, Interpol completed their fourth studio album (title/label TBA), due out late summer of 2010 , and will begin a world tour this June, including 9 dates supporting U2 in the US and Canada. “For this run, our keys set-up will include a Nord Wave and Electro 3 - Tonal quality aside, these machines are built for the road.” And in addition to the business of recording and touring with Interpol, Samuel has remixed such artist as NIN, Marilyn Manson, Anya Marina, and Health. As well as co-written and recorded an EP and full length CD/LP with Singer/Guitarist Adam Franklin (Swervedriver, Bolts Of Melody) under the moniker Magnetic Morning. His most current solo effort, under the name Empty Mansions, has been to compose, arrange, and record, music for the Athens, Ga, Trapeze company, Canopy - for their arial dance piece Fractured Fairy Tales.
