Todd Caldwell
"I've been a fan of Nord since I saw Scott Kinsey slaying a Lead series board with Tribal Tech years ago. I just had to have one! Nowadays, between my Stage EX board and the C1 combo organ I'm ready for just about anything. The sound and response of these keyboards make it really easy to sit back, relax and play. I'm always excited to see the great ideas they keep coming up with." - Todd Caldwell, Crosby Stills & NashGear:
"I use a Stage EX combining stereo direct outs with a mono send to a Fender Deluxe combo amp. The clean stereo sends are great for pianos and synths and lush chorusy sounds. The mono send to the Fender amp sounds killer for Clavinet, Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes sounds.
C1 combo organ and Pedal Keys 27 employing the multi-pin Leslie speaker output into an early 60's Model 45 speaker cabinet. I use a pedal style pre-amp made by Speakeasy Vintage Music to interface the old style 6 pin Leslie configuration with the modern day 9 pin set-up. The rig sounds amazing and for the size and weight is clearly unmatched by any other Hammond "clone" keyboard on the market. "

Bio:
Todd Caldwell is an american organist, composer and producer from Lubbock, Texas. Born May 24th 1979, Todd grew up around his father Don's recording studio bearing witness to the daily creation and evolution of the "Lubbock Sound". His first instrument was, like his father's, the saxophone. By age fifteen Todd was playing nightly in clubs and theaters across West Texas. However, as he entered college his focus began to shift more towards piano and keyboards.
"In my first year of college I got hip to Steely Dan and that really turned something on in me. Within a few months I had bought a Fender Rhodes and a little Hammond and started really digging in".
After College Todd moved to Dallas, Texas and began studying with Miles alumni Bernard Wright. He played B-3 organ in several Dallas area churches and on the local club scene, shared the stage with many notable talents such as bassist Chuck Rainey and Count Basie Band altoist Brad Leali.
In 2006, after co-scoring an all original jazz and ambient music score to the critically acclaimed feature film "Spiral", Todd was discovered by rock'n'roll music legend Stephen Stills and soon found himself on stage with the supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash. The relationship with CSN soon led Todd into concert performances everywhere from Madison Square Garden to Hyde Park and has seen him featured with artists such as Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Joe Walsh to name a few.
Currently residing in New York City, Todd continues to play with CSN, study music and compose and perform with his own original music groups.
