Thursday 9:00am – 12pm Allen & Heath Live Sound Console Training – dLive Certification Course / Presented by Mike Bangs. Room 206B.

The dLive Certification Course is an introduction to the architecture and operation of the Allen&Heath dLive flagship mixing system. Suitable for newer engineers or seasoned professionals, this class will give an overview of the foundations of the platform, an understanding of basic system design and the knowledge to build a new show file and get through mixing a show. This is a hands-on class and participation is encouraged. Earn CTS International Renewal Unit (RU) credit and connect with engineers and professionals. Thursday 1:00pm – 2:30pm Allen & Heath Live Sound Console Training – Mixing for Worship: Strategies for Leveling Up / Presented by Mike Bangs. Room 206B.

Focused on the unique needs of the church audio operator, this class will demonstrate general concepts as well as dLive-specific tips and tricks for improving worship mix intelligibility and balance. Whether you are mixing for a congregation of 50 or 5000, a single guitar and vocal or a full praise band and choir, this session will help to give you the skills to deliver an optimal audio experience. Techniques for Sanctuary, Stage and Broadcast mixing will be discussed. Presented by industry veteran Michael Bangs (Katy Perry, George Strait, Aerosmith).


Thursday 3pm – 4:30pm Allen & Heath Live Sound Console Training – Problem Solving Through Creative Routing with Chris Dwight / Presented by Chris Dwight (FOH/Mons/PM, Dominic Fike, Remi Wolf, Cold War Kids). Room 206B.

Presented by Chris Dwight (FOH/Mons/PM, Dominic Fike, Remi Wolf, Cold War Kids), this informative and interactive session walks through innovative approaches to console routing in order to address common mixing obstacles. Learn to work more efficiently, manage high channel counts, and ultimately produce a more musical mix. While presented via the Allen & Heath dLive Digital Mixing Console, many of these tips and tricks are brand and system agnostic — there is something here for live sound engineers of all backgrounds. You won’t want to miss this special Allen & Heath Live Sound Console Training session.

Learn how to manage competing priorities and personalities to improve the overall performance and have the band and the crew leave the stage smiling. Learn some of the latest tools and techniques for controlling dynamics and frequencies of inputs and mix busses. Practice shaping audio for an effective mix. Introduction to Multiband Compression, Dynamic EQ, Source Expansion and more. This is a hands-on class and participation is encouraged. Live Sound/Touring Manager

With over 20 years of concert production experience, Mike Bangs has spent most of his career as a Touring Monitor Engineer and Production Manager. Touring with acts such as Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Katy Perry, Tom Petty, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Nick Jonas, Bangs has developed extensive real-world experience and has mixed well over 1000 shows across the globe. As an early adopter of live digital mixing, Bangs provided training and support for engineers switching to many of the first large format live consoles starting in 2004. In 2011, he adopted the Allen & Heath iLive platform as his console of choice for consistent touring, leading to a close relationship with A&H. At the end of 2015, Bangs was added to the team as the Allen & Heath USA Live Sound/Touring Manager to support the unique needs of touring professionals on the groundbreaking dLive Digital Mixing System. Bangs continues to mix several shows per month.
