VFX-1 Serato Effects Controller Now Shipping
Vestax, the leading maker of DJ mixing and control products, is proud to announce the new VFX-1, a MIDI effects controller designed to mate with the company’s acclaimed VCI-300+ITCH DJ control system. Designed in conjunction with Serato, the VFX-1 is a two-channel, USB-powered unit providing access to 12 DSP effects per channel, with full custom control of each effect. Computer-based DJs will love the easy access to a full palette of creative effects that the VFX-1 offers, right out of the box. In essence, the mere act of connecting the VFX-1 activates the effects unit within Serato ITCH, the computer control software included with the VCI-300 computer DJ system. The VFX-1 is strictly plug-and-play; no special settings or drivers are required. Once connected, the DJ has instant access to a band of 12 professional effects, including flanger, phaser, echo, delay, reverb, “crusher,” and tremolo. Three user-definable effects, plus high-pass and low-pass filters complete the package. Once assigned to Deck A, Deck B or Aux/Mic, effects can be fully customized across three parameters.
Applying the effects to a mix is push-button easy with the VFX-1’s soft-touch on/off switch. In Momentary mode, effects are applied only while the button is depressed, while Latch mode provides a hands-free click on/click off functionality. Timing is also a snap, with a Beats knob at the ready to set the effect in time with the song’s beats per minute (BPM). In addition, the VFX-1 offers Tap/Auto BPM detection button.
The VFX-1 is compatible with both windows and Macintosh operating systems and works with any Serato ITCH hardware controller. A single USB connection to the host computer provides both power and data stream. The controller’s dimensions are identical in height and depth to the VCI-300 DJ control deck for a professional look and feel, providing instant and seamless expansion into a new world of creative possibilities.
